Nashville Loves Food: The Frothy Monkey
By Sheri Oneal I love the choices we have for food in Nashville and I also love coffee! One of my favorite places to go is the Frothy Monkey, they have great coffee and food! I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing restaurateur Ryan Pruitt and the chef Chase Ingalls last year for the “Nashville Loves Food” marketing piece I did for Lithographics, Inc. with Melissa Corbin and Joe Smith. I had a great visit as always and enjoyed the experience, boy do I love my job! These are two great guys, and the Frothy Monkey is an awesome place to have business meetings. They have several locations throughout Nashville…
The power of an elevator pitch!
By Sheri Oneal I am getting a late start in the new year but I have some great things lined up for 2014! Last year while attending a morning Chamber event I was caught off guard when the host asked that we go around the room and give our 30 second – 1 minute elevator pitch. I have been teaching a business course at Nossi College of Art to young budding professional photographers for several years. The elevator pitch is what I have my students master because I do believe it is the most important part of a business so seemingly this would be a very easy task for me. That…
Made in America: The Hermitage
By Sheri Oneal Earlier this year I was asked to shoot some photos of The Hermitage in Nashville Tennessee for an editorial assignment in American Spirit Magazine. This historical landmark is perfect for my “Made in America” blog series so I wanted to share it with you all. The Hermitage is a plantation and a museum that attracts tourists from all over the country. It was owned by President Andrew Jackson from 1804 until his death in 1845. The magazine article centered around Andrew Jackson’s historical home, what inspired him to build this beautiful living space and the history behind his historical mansion. A copy of the article can be…
Made in America: Elliston Place Soda Shop
By Sheri Oneal With everyone striking up their grills for Independence Day, I wanted to share some photos for my Made in America series of the iconic Nashville restaurant “Elliston Place Soda Shop.” As one of the oldest eating establishments in Nashville it represents the simplicity of American food. I didn’t live in that time when date night was a burger and a shake and soda shops were as common as fast food chains but my parents did and they remember it well. I do remember sitting at the soda fountain at Woolworth as a child with my grandmother eating grilled cheese sandwiches and I loved the show “Happy Days!” Originally…
Travis Meadows…survivor.
By Sheri Oneal This is a very personal blog for me to post on my business site, it is about courage, self esteem and being a survivor. There is more text than usual for a photo blog but I hope that you will read this story about my great friend Travis Meadows and pass it on. My hope is that those of us who struggle with self esteem will be touched and inspired as I have been. I believe we as human beings get so self absorbed in our daily activity that we often lose touch and forget to be grateful for what we have in our lives. Family, friends,…
A mothers request while missing her son…
By Sheri Oneal Several years ago I met a young man named Gabe Neill who was visiting my neighbor next door. His demeanor was electric, inspiring and he seemed so positive. He enamored me with his visit saying he was traveling the US jumping freight trains. He said his grandfather told him stories of jumping trains when he was a kid and he wanted to see what it was like so he set out on his adventure. I went out the next day and shot a few photos of Gabe around the freight cars over in the gulch before being run off by the cops. Gabe left the next morning…
Made in America: The Parthenon
A tour of the Parthenon in Nashville, TN originally built in 1897 as a centerpiece for the state fair at Centennial Park for Made in America blog series.
Marché Artisan Foods…a little slice of heaven!
By Sheri Oneal Folks living in Nashville especially those on the East side know all about how wonderful Marché’s ever changing seasonal menu is to the pallet. Marché Artisan Foods is a European style cafe and market located in “Five Points” on the East side of Nashville in Tennessee. They serve breakfast, lunch & dinner and the experience is just like sitting in a cafe in Europe. They offer a full coffee & espresso bar, house made pastries, gourmet grocery items as well as fresh fish, meats and cheeses. My first “Marché” experience was the apple smoked bacon BLT, although I no longer see it on the menu it is my favorite…
Meet “Art Dude Creative” Joe Smith
By Sheri Oneal I recently had the opportunity to shoot some corporate images of Joe Smith, the creator behind “Art Dude Creative.” Joe has been a friend since he moved back to town several years ago and we have had the opportunity to work on several projects over the years including Comfort U and Rosie Posie kids clothing. Joe also built my company web site and completely customized it to work the way I wanted it to, no flash, quick loading images and easy to navigate. I have total control over the back end so I can add , change and edit any content whenever I want. Perfect for someone like…
Made in America: John Archer & Ron Ingram
By Sheri Oneal For my series “Made in America” this time I traveled all the way to Ocala, Florida…my hometown. John has been a part of my family for many years and I have wanted to photograph him and his friends with their Harley Davidson’s for as far back as I can remember. While visiting over the holiday I finally had my chance to grab a few shots (I still plan to shoot images of his friends with their bikes so stay tuned)! John Archer and Ron Ingram have taken a hobby and created a way to live out their dream when they are not working their day job! On…
