Sheri Joins Launch Engine As Contributing Author!
Over the past few months I have been honored to join the team of a new online news platform called Launch Engine as a contributing author! Its mission is to cover technology, organizations, innovation, social causes, start ups, politics, business news and culture in middle Tennessee. I have really enjoyed being able to virtually meet business owners and fellow artists for interviews. It has been so much fun to tell their stories through this platform and I wanted to share with my photo business community. For more than 25 years I have been a commercial photographer both in Tennessee and in Florida where I had a studio back in the…
Saying Goodbye To Patti
I wanted to take a moment and share something personal. I recently learned my friend and mentor in photography Patti Bose has passed away from cancer. I learned of the news from a Facebook post right before Thanksgiving. I’ve spent the last few days processing everything and digging through old photographs. I wanted to say goodbye to Patti by sharing some memories. Patti was a part of my earlier life when I lived in Orlando, Florida. With a 12-year difference in age, I looked up to her as an idol and a mentor. It’s been more than 20 years since we spent time together. I still remember her beautiful smile,…
What’s in my camera bag?
I have been a commercial photographer for more than 25 years and have changed gear many times since the days of film. I am often asked what’s in my camera bag for location work and what is the best gear to buy. We all have mixed needs depending on what and how we shoot so I wanted to share the different aspects of gear in my camera bag when shooting on-location assignments. I was slow to jump into digital many moons ago due to the cost and the fact that I primarily shoot in manual mode. I hate the ever-changing technical aspect of digital technology because it is expensive and…
Looking for unique products & services for “Made in America” blog series!!
This year I am challenging myself to do more personal work. I have decided to start a series called “Made in America: Nashville,” and it will center around products and services that are offered and created in America. I plan to focus in and around Nashville but hope when opportunity arises I can branch out. “Made in America” has long been a topic of discussion within news sources due to US businesses outsourcing to other countries because the labor and production cost are often cheaper. Being a small business owner myself I realize the importance of offering a quality product and service that adds value and is affordable to my…
The Launch Of ReTune Nashville
By Sheri Oneal It has been a while since I have blogged, at least here for my photography site. For a little over a month, I have been somewhat preoccupied with a project I started called “ReTune Nashville”. It is a flood relief effort to help raise money for Nashville’s uninsured musicians through the sale of artwork created from flood-damaged musical instruments. For weeks I have been working hard with a team of people to launch ReTune Nashville as a new non-profit. These are several pictures of some of the instruments we have collected for the cause. I will be shooting more as the project picks up momentum including the artist…
Photography And Your Brand
Why Photography And Your Brand Identity Are Key to Standing Out In today’s digital landscape, new small businesses are emerging daily, making it easier than ever to establish an online presence. But here’s the crucial question, “How do you truly stand out among your competitors?” For many new entrepreneurs, the importance of brand identity can be tough to grasp. However, a strong marketing and brand image foundation is essential before you even begin to introduce and grow your business. Take a moment to consider these important questions, “Do you have a website, business page, and social media profiles that cohesively represent your brand? What do your chosen colors and design…
Welcome to Thinking Diva!
I recently designed a new site/blog called Thinking Diva. Over the years I have dreamed of becoming a writer and this is my attempt to share with the world and see if I can actually connect with others from a writer’s point of view. I have lived a deeply contemplative life through pen and paper. As a child, I grew up in a rural area and spent much time alone sitting among the swaying pines writing my thoughts down in journals. Over the years I have worked hard to be less of an introvert by gradually sharing my words and my work with others. There is nothing more fulfilling than…
